The Time machine :: 02 May, 2006
Well, while we are in Wasdale (we'll get back to Arran in a day or so), I thought you might like to see this picture of what looks to be a stretcher box. I've no doubt there are some Doctor Who fans amongst you - if you live abroad and don't know him, he is the last Time Lord and commutes from place to place (and to different times) in his TARDIS. This is an acronym for 'Time and Relative Dimensions In Space'.

Now this 'Stretcher Box' is actually a Cumbrian version of the TARDIS and it allows for safe instantaneous transport between the various 'Stretcher Boxes' in the Lake District. 'Stretcher Box' is an acronym for Spatial Time and Relatively Existential Transport Cuboid, Heavy yet Exceedingly Robust Box'. You can save yourself a lot of walking if you know where they are situated. Just look at the two guys in the picture on their last legs - they will only just make it down the mountain by walking judging by their erratic gait, but if only they knew the secret of the 'Stretcher Box'!
(who writes this rubbish? Ed)
